Pictures from a Sumo tournament we went to. It was a fun experience, very different from your typical western sport. The wrestlers will spend several minutes just staring at eachother or preparing for the fight. Then, suddenly, they crash into eachother. The fight normally only lasts for a few seconds. I find it to be most similar to golf: the competitors engage in a long period of hard focusing, planning the move, waiting for every limb to become ready. Then, at just the right moment, they strike. With Sumo, it becomes a race of the minds between the two competitors. Whoever is ready first, and is ready enough, wins.
